Dr. Ramata Sissoko Cisse is an assistant professor of biology at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville Georgia, where she has been teaching and conducting research since 2016.
Dr. Cisse holds a DVM from Kazakh State Agrarian University, Almaty in Kazakhstan, a Master’s degree in biology from Georgia State University in Atlanta, and a PhD in Poultry Science from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Her graduate research was on the effect of nutrition on the reproductive performance of broiler breeders and the utilization of alternative feed ingredients in poultry diets. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory in Athens Georgia, where she conducted research in the encapsulation of Newcastle Disease virus to improve vaccination success rates in rural areas.
Dr. Cisse’s research interests include sustainable agriculture, use of alternative feed ingredients in poultry diets and the effect of nutrition on the physiological functions of animals.
Currently, Dr. Cisse conducts research on waste management at her college and in her native country of Mali, in West Africa.
Dr. Cisse enjoys being involved in community activities both in the U.S. and abroad. She assists international students in search of admittance into U.S. academic institutions. She loves watching and playing soccer and uses sports as an active learning tool in her classrooms.
